Training
Are you qualified?
Yes. I’m an accredited member of the ABTC (Animal Training Instructor) and TCBTS, as well as a UK Sniffer Dogs Instructor.
What methods do you use?
I’m a reward-based trainer.
At what age can I start training my puppy?
Your puppy’s learning has already begun before you bring them home. If you have an older dog or other pets, that’s something to consider, along with house rules and introductions to young children. Likewise, if you’re a first-time puppy owner you’ll need to put things in place before they arrive home.
Feel free to call or message to start that conversation early and set yourself up for success.
Where do the assessments for 1-1 training take place?
Assessments take place at your home and the surrounding area, so I can fully understand your dog in their home environment.
Where do the follow-up sessions take place?
The best location is decided once we’ve identified the skills your dog needs. Most of the time I come to you, but we can also meet at other convenient places.
How long are the follow-up sessions?
Usually around 60 to 90 minutes.
What happens when I’ve finished my sessions?
You can book another set, one-off sessions, or look at the other skills courses on offer, such as scentwork and tracking.
What happens if I get stuck between training sessions?
Each package includes ongoing phone support for those little hiccups.
Will I get a training plan?
Absolutely. Everything is emailed across, with easy-to-follow exercises, general advice and other useful tips.
Is there an age limit for 1-1 training?
No. Feel free to call to discuss any concerns, with no obligation.
Are you insured?
Yes, I’m fully insured with a reputable pet business insurer.
Do you work with XL Bullies?
Please call me directly to discuss, as insurance requirements and UK legislation are constantly changing.
Scentwork
Do I need a Labrador or Spaniel to be successful at scentwork?
No. The UK Sniffer Dogs courses are designed for any dog, regardless of breed, age and ability.
How long are the courses?
Each course states on its booking page whether it’s a 6-week course or 3 × 2-hour workshops. Feel free to contact me directly if you’re unsure.
I can’t attend a course. Can I still complete UK Sniffer Dogs?
Absolutely. 1-1 scentwork training options are available.
Do I need any specialist equipment?
No. For Bronze level you’ll only need to buy a red Kong. Everything else is provided for all courses at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
Are courses always run at the same location?
No. The location of each course is clearly advertised on its booking page, and you’ll receive a confirmation email after payment.

I’m still not sure if this is right for me and my dog. What do I do?
